LONDON and West Palm Beach, Florida. – LIV Golf today confirmed details of the 2023 LIV Golf Team Championship, which will take place October 20-22 at Trump National Doral Golf Club in Miami. The iconic Blue Monster Course will host a three-day seeded tournament featuring both match play and stroke play, providing the thrill of head-to-head competition as 12 teams compete for a historic $50 million purse.

Tickets are sold at: LIVGolf.com, where one-day and three-day on-site passes include everything including world-class golf competitions featuring many of the game’s biggest stars and all on-site fan attractions, including Saturday’s live Alesso concert and Sunday’s FISHER concert.

For the LIV Golf Team Championship, teams will be seeded from 1st to 12th based on the final team standings in the regular season after the 13th event, which will be held from October 13 to 15 at the Royal Greens Golf & Country Club in Jeddah. The top four teams will have a bye in the first round and will automatically qualify for Saturday’s semi-finals. Teams seeded 5-12 will compete in the quarterfinals, with match rankings determined on Wednesday, October 18 during a live press conference with team captains from each of the eight teams. The top-seeded team will select its opponent, starting with the fifth seed. Friday’s quarterfinals will begin with a shootout and there will be four head-to-head team matches, including two singles matches and one quads match per competition. The four winning teams will advance to the quarterfinals on Saturday, where they will face the top four seeds in another round of head-to-head matches, competing in the same format as Friday.

On Sunday, all 48 players from the 12 teams will compete in one round of Stroke Play, with all four players’ scores counting towards their team’s score. The four teams that advance to the finals will compete for places 1 – 4, while the teams eliminated in the semi-finals will fight for places 5 – 8. The teams eliminated in the quarterfinals will compete for places 9 to 12, and larger prizes will be awarded to the teams depending on from their final place.

DAILY TOURNAMENT FORMAT

Quarterfinals: Friday, October 20

  • Teams seeded 1-4 will receive a bye
  • Teams seeded 5-12 will compete in direct match-play competitions
  • The highest-ranked teams choose their opponents
  • All 32 players from these eight teams will compete simultaneously in the shotgun start
  • For each head-to-head team match, there will be three matches: two singles matches and one alternating match (foursomes).
  • Matches will be played until a winner is determined; there will be no connections. Each match winner receives one point
  • The teams that score two points will advance to Saturday’s semifinals

Semi-finals: Saturday, October 21

  • From Friday, teams seeded 1-4 will join the four winning teams for another day of head-to-head team competition
  • The highest-ranked teams choose their opponents
  • All 32 players from these eight teams will compete simultaneously in the shotgun start
  • Teams compete in the same format as on Friday: two singles matches and one alternating fours match, with each match winner receiving one point
  • Matches will be played until a winner is determined; there will be no connections
  • The four teams that score two points will advance to Sunday’s finals

Finals: Sunday, October 22

  • All 48 players from 12 teams will compete in shotgun mode with one round of stroke play
  • All four individual scores count towards the team score
  • The four teams advancing to the final will compete for places 1 to 4
  • The four teams eliminated in the semi-finals will compete for places 5 to 8
  • The four teams eliminated in the quarterfinals will compete for places 9 to 12
  • Larger prizes are awarded to teams based on their final place
  • Lowest team score on Sunday among the four teams that advanced to the finals becomes the 2023 LIV Golf Team Champion

After 12 events, 4Aces GC – which features two-time major winner Dustin Johnson, 2018 Masters champion Patrick Reed, Peter Uihlein and Pat Perez – sits at the top of the team rankings with 188 points following team victories in Adelaide and London.

2020 US Open champion Bryson DeChambeau’s Crushers GC (178 points), consisting of Paul Casey, Charles Howell III and Anirban Lahiri, made significant progress with a recent team victory in Chicago, giving them a seven-point lead in second place over Torque GC.

Torque GC includes Chilean stars Joaquin Niemann and Mito Pereira, Colombian Sebastian Muñoz and Spanish rookie David Puig, who are just behind Crushers GC with a total of 171 points after victories in Orlando, DC, Andalusia and Greenbrier.

The All-South Africa Stinger GC, featuring main champions Louis Oosthuizen and Charl Schwartzel, Branden Grace and Dean Burmester, is currently fourth on 157 points. RangeGoats GC (155 points) is in fifth place with five top-three finishes this season thanks to standout performances from Talor Gooch, Harold Varner III, Thomas Pieters and captain Bubba Watson, a two-time Masters champion.
