Rickie Fowler shot 66-69 on Friday and is tied for sixth in the BMW Championship. He’s familiar with the Olympia fields, especially after Oklahoma State’s 2007 win at the same location. They are in contention for the title this week. And it looks like a 103-year-old fan has his back.
A lifelong golfer, Grandma Susie attended her first PGA Tour event this week. And he met many golfers on the course while watching the championship. When she turned 100, some players sent her a birthday video, singing hope for her in 2020. Fowler was a part of it.
After round 2 on Friday, she opened up about the life she’s completed since sending her the video in 2020. Fowler was also asked what questions she had for Susie. He replied, “We just chatted, had a conversation for about 10 minutes. I hope he threw out the names of some other guys he can watch like Jordan and JT. I’m not sure if she didn’t know them or — I threw out the names and she wasn’t sure. So we’ll see. Maybe we gave her a few more kids to watch when she watches golf on TV.”
One day 103 years in the making.

Another question he answered was about how he felt seeing her. Susie hoped he would play a good game and called him her favorite golfer of all time. Grandma’s conversations and fascination with the sport are evident in a Twitter video shared by the PGA Tour.
The observation is awkward, given that the trio are often seen hanging out. And Fowler remarking on the anonymity of Justin Thomas and Jordan Spieth in Grandma Susie’s memory hinted at a possible dig from his end. Do you think that was an unnecessary remark?

Right behind Homa is Chris Kirk. He got to -8 with four birdies and zero bogeys. Rickie Fowler is in sixth, just off the leader. But his focus is also on something else. He is currently ranked 12th in the FedEx Cup standings and wants to be in the top 30 of the BMW Championship. Why;
This week, he wants a great performance to cement his place in Atlanta ahead of the Tour Championship. And according to the rules, only 30 golfers advance from the BMW Championship to play the Tour Championship. Do you think Rickie Fowler will make it? Maybe Grandma Susie will be a charm for him.

Justin Thomas has missed five of eight cuts at the PGA Championship this year. Therefore, he did not make the playoffs. While Spieth tries to put on his best game and stands at T21. But for all that, we hope Fowler’s friendships aren’t in danger of suffering.
